Strategic Communication ResourcesSM workshops are intended for staff and board members of non-profit health organizations, associations and foundations as well as public health professionals from a variety of US and international organizations. On request, workshops can be held at the organization's location and customized for special needs and audiences. SCR also specializes in the design, implementation and facilitation of tailored workshops on a variety of health communication and strategic planning topics for specific audiences and organizations.
Renata Schiavo, Founder and Principal of Strategic Communication ResourcesSM (SCR) , New York University adjunct professor, and author of Health Communication: From Theory to Practice (San Francisco: Jossey-Bass, 2007), designs and conducts all workshops. Guest speakers and co-facilitators may include senior public health professionals from other organizations (only for workshops with more than 15 participants). Counseling on strategic planning and health communication strategic programming and evaluation is also available at a special rate to all non-profit health organizations, associations, foundations and other US and international organizations whose members participate in any of our workshops.

Dos & Don'ts of Health Communication Planning This
full day interactive workshop focuses on the dos and don'ts of
effective health communication planning. Participants will be
introduced to the role of health communication in advancing
organizational, public health and audience-specific goals, key steps
and methods in health communication planning, strategic communication
channels and tools, and key elements of cost-effective and culturally
competent programming.
Evaluating Outcomes of Health Communications Programs This
half day interactive workshop focuses on the evaluation of health
communications programs. Participants will be introduced to current
trends, evaluation types and models, as well as methods to link
outcomes with strategic communications programs, and to implement sound
monitoring systems for audience feedback and data collection.
E-Health: Current Trends, Strategies and Tools for Online Health Communication This
half day interactive workshop reviews current trends and strategies for
online health communications. Participants will be introduced to key
factors that influence the quality and implications of
Internet-mediated communications; discuss issues that may affect
perception and use of online tools; and review how to select audience-
and health issue-specific strategies, channels and tools.
Strategies to Build Successful Partnerships: Best Practices and Recommended Steps This half-day interactive workshop focuses on the importance of strategic partnerships and the dos and don'ts of building and managing successful partnerships. Participants will be introduced to best practices, recommended steps, and methods to evaluate the feasibility and cost-effectiveness of potential partnerships as well as to develop a partnership plan as part of the overall strategic plan.
